An Introduction to Meditation
Meditation is so much more and so much less than any ideas we
have about it. To me meditation is reconnecting and remembering
the stillness that always exists within. Meditation may not be
a still mind, although occasionally this happens, meditation is a
way to acknowledge that alongside the mess and busyness of life
there also rests an infinite well of stillness and peace, every single
breath. While I still gain immeasurable benefit from sitting still in
meditation, I no longer have ideas about how meditation has to
feel. It doesn’t really matter what happens, it’s more about sincere
dedication to being with, or making friends with, whatever arises.
I encourage you to explore meditation, maybe even allow some of
the ideas or rules you have about it to fall away?
